This is a very fine English brass, copper, and pewter gaming set, dating to the late 20th century, circa 1980. The chess board is constructed of 64 copper and brass squares, each with a shimmering appearance. The weighted chess pieces are crafted of solid brass and pewter brass. Warm gold and cool silver-grey tones accentuate the two sets. Both the board and pieces have felted bases. The chess board is stamped “England,” and the set was originally purchased from Harrods in London. This vintage gaming set has a beautiful aged patina.
Measurements are as follows:
The outer dimensions of the chess board are 17″ in length x 17″ in width
The playing surface of the chess board is 16.25″ in length x 16.25″ in width
The tallest chess pieces measure 4.25″ in height
