Vintage Design
Rare and beautiful set of dining chairs “model 101” made at Slagelse Møbelværk, Denmark in the early 1950s. The chairs are made from the most amazing patinated solid oakwood and has been reupholstered in long haired organic sheepskin from Gotland. All chairs are stamped by maker underneath. The design is typical for the early Danish Modern movement of the 1940-1950s where the spindle back was a popular theme as seen in chairs by Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen & Ole Wanscher. Slagelse Møbelværk was an important furniture manufacturer and among the first to combine the traditional Danish cabinetmaker tradition with modern industrial serial production. They made furniture in collaboration with renown designers such as Eva & Nils Koppel, Viggo Boesen, Kurt Østervig and many others.
