Set of chair and stool designed by Cor Alons, circa 1950. Manufactured by Den Boer Gouda, (Netherlands), circa 1950. Laminated Birchwood plywood and original upholstery. Materials: Wood Upholstery Measurements: Chair: 70 H 44 W 33 D Stool: 43 H 40 Ø In good original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Cornelius Louis (COR) Alons (1892-1967) was a Dutch interior and Industrial designer. He studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen (1911-1913) and the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (1913-1917). Went after his training to work as an interior designer at the firm H. Pander & Zn. He designed furniture, bookplate, interiors and stained-glass windows. He was among the first generation of interior designers. Designed not only furniture, but also looked at where the furniture was placed in the room.
