Late 18th Century Antique Walnut Travel or Lap Desk

Antique Writing Lap Desk*, likely French walnut, probably dating to around the late Victorian or Edwardian period. This is a wonderful looking lap desk, with a beautiful design and top diamond shaped accent. In good overall antique condition.

The writing slope still intact with original maroon cloth writing area and cloth lift tabs. It has brass fixtures and is well built (interior shelves made of sturdy wood). There is a removable wooden pen rest and the original spots for adjacent inkwells. Original cloth tabs lift two writing surfaces to access opposite underneath compartments.

Original hardware, no key, unsure of maker.

In good condition. The inside of the box is preserved, aside from wear inside to the blue paper lining pealing in some places due to age. No restorations have been made. Please note there is a stress crack on outside of box that runs around part of lid. See all photos carefully, if you have additional questions, glad to answer them.
