This large and substantial folk art sculpture is unsigned from what we’ve been able to determine, but presumed to have been made in the United States in approximately 1970 in a Brutalist style. The sculpture depicts an Ancient Roman horse drawn chariot and rider and done completely in found objects. The sculpture utilizes such things as nails, screws, nuts, bolts, wire, tubing which has been welded together, and given a lacquered finish, likely to inhibit further rust or deterioration of the metal. The wheels do turn and are composed of cast metal.
