Vintage Design
This chair by Horst Romanus Wanke is a really special and rare piece. The high backrest makes the chair almost a throne. Horst Romanus Wanke not only uses the many wooden sticks for the backrest but also for the feet. This makes the chair look like it could be flipped over and used from either side. But this is not the case, it is a nice optical gimmick. There are also smaller armchairs and stools from the series, the wooden sticks in the upper and lower area are the distinguishing feature.
This chair has a completely new upholstery in a lilac shade. Due to the unusual shape, it is not a chair that you have standing at the table. It is more suitable as a lounge chair, or as a highlight with which you can fill a corner.
The chair was produced by furniture manufacturer Wilhelm Benze in Germany.
