An original Belgian Art Deco dining table featuring a parquetry inlaid table top defined by expert woodworking and a curved double pedestal base with polished aluminum decorative accents.
Branded “Importe de Belgique”
Attributed to: Marcel-Louis Baugniet (1896-1995)
Due to the nature of the grain and its inlaid parquetry application, the raw and unornamented top has an iridescent and spotted quality reminiscent of an oscelot’s fur. The robust satin lacquered rectangular tabletop is supported by an interesting lower structure.
The table has two leaves of a slightly different color.
These table leaves can be used singly or together for the full extension.
There are also 4 matching dining chairs.
The Constructivist urban and austere design of this table projects an air of strength and solidity.
Beautifully crafted with a keen eye for detail and proportion, this set would make a impressive statement in any room setting and can complement many different furniture design periods ex: Minimalist, Mid Century, French Modern, Moderne, Post Modern, Contemporary, Italian design, Industrial, Arts & Crafts …..
