An intriguing cedrela and rosewood tripod pedestal table from Tobago, circa 1885, featuring a specimen top with labeled exotic woods. The handwritten labels underneath catalog each of the wood specimens used in its making and a second exhibitor’s label shows that it was presented at the British Guyana Show in 1885. The table was later sent to London where it was presented at The Colonial and Indian Exhibition of 1886 to demonstrate the exotic woods available from this area of the West Indies. Further provenance and a complete list of the species employed is available upon request.
