A Neo Sumerian style bronze sculpture of a face, mounted on a raw travertine plinth, 20th century. The felted bottom also shows a sticker from a now shuttered antique store in Santa Monica where the relic was once sold; beyond that, the piece is thought to be from Southern Europe: the travertine from Italy and the bronze from Macedonia. The face betrays Bronze Age sensibilities in its simplicity and abstraction but also in its ethereal and serene expression – alluding, I daresay, to an ancient spirituality. Fabulous condition; no outward signs of wear. Quite heavy. Pick up in central west Los Angeles or worldwide shipping available. Thank you, as always, for your interest!
